Artist Background

Veronika Zeil was born in Germany and her travels have brought her to Australia where she married and settled in Central Queensland.

Her Heritage from the vibrant southern, alpine region in Germany and her deep connection with the Australian landscape are the basis of her creativity.  The transition of growing up in the lush, fertile and green countryside of Europe to living in the expanse of the harsh Australian landscape has inspired her to express herself through contemporary mixed media paintings, mosaic work and assemblages.  She is fascinated by the natural history of the land as well as by the amazing evolutionary adaptation of all living things to allow their survival in this unforgiving landscape.

Her goal is to capture the spirit of the land, the fascinating fauna and flora, the lifestyle of the people as well as the wonderful landscape.
Veronika works in many media including recycled materials, glass, tiles, paper mache, acrylics, pastels and water colours.  Her work is on display locally at the Mill Gallery in Yeppoon, at the Coffeehouse in Rockhampton, at the Central Queensland University as well as in businesses and private spaces across the Central Highlands.  Veronika works from her studio at Rockyview and visits can be arranged by appointments.
